What does Dr Peter Attia eat?

What-do-I-eat-538x218

You met Dr Peter Attia in our last post “What if we´re wrong about diabetes?” In the video he told us that prior to his weight loss he was exercising 3 to 4 hours every single day and ate according to the food pyramid. However, he got fatter and fatter and was on his way to getting diabetes. Then he changed his diet, he lost 40 pounds and he did not have insulin resistance any more.

The picture above shows a few of the foods that you will find in his refrigerator. He writes on his website:

“Note that on average I consume about 4,000 to 4,500 calories per day. I get this from approximately 400-425 grams of fat, 120-140 grams of protein, and 30-50 grams of carbs. In addition, there are a number of supplements I consume daily”.

Read more about his intake of supplements and food here.

Dr Peter Attia is now dedicated to his and Gary Taubes non-profit organization NuSi Nutrition Science Initiative. Read more about it here.

The Scientific 7-minute Workout

12well_physed-tmagArticle

The picture above is from New York Time Magazine, an article about the latest science in exercise: Thirty seconds for each workout and ten seconds of rest between. If you have twenty minutes you could repeat them 2-3 times. The only things you need are your body, a chair and a wall. I want to add; if you are active already. If you are a beginner you should be careful so you won´t hurt yourself. Adjust the exercises so they will fit you. Personally, I do not like exercise number 4. If you don´t know how to do an exercise you can probably find many of them on You Tube.

Midsummer celebrations in Sweden

DSC_0027

This weekend we are celebrating Midsummer in Sweden. For Swedes that is one of the main celebrations during the year. Families and friends are coming together, eating different kinds of pickled herring and salmon, barbecue, strawberries and much more. As a true Swede I love pickled herring and I have found some delicious herring at Wal-Mart.

Do you know what a midsummer/may pole is? See some photographs from beautiful Sweden on our Pinterest Boards.

Happy Midsummer!

What can we do about it?

Dr Yoni Freedhoff MD says:

I have been asked by the food industry to give this talk at an industry breakfast, but three days prior to the event they got cold feet and dis-invited me. The good news is, the Internet has a much larger audience than a room full of food industry folks who likely wouldn’t have cared much about what I had to say in the first place. So here’s my take on what the food industry can do, why they’re not going to do it, and what we can do about it.
