Are you a TOFI -Thin on the Outside, Fat on the Inside?
The internal visceral fat inside your body is the dangerous fat, which promotes inflammation. In the above picture you can see two men; similar age and with the same percent body fat. The white in the picture is the body fat. The man on the right has more fat on the outside (external) than the man on the left, but he has only 1.65 liters of internal fat around his organs. The man on the left has as much as 5.86 liters internal fat around his organ, so he’s a TOFI – thin on the outside, fat on the inside, and with that comes a larger risk for diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular disease. If a person is obese he/she can have as much as 15 liters of internal fat.
