If you think about what Hippocrates is saying, it’s not very strange, to think that people will feel better after a couple of weeks removing allergens from their diets. I have written about elimination diets before and back then it took three weeks now it’s down to one week according to Dr. Mark Hyman’s new book. Is three weeks of your lifetime really too long? Isn’t it worth three to four weeks to try an elimination diet with the chance of getting well from headaches, brain fog, stomach pain, and many other health issues? You will be amazed how quickly a body can heal.

How to get rid of your migraines

Here he is again; Dr. Mark Hyman is giving us some great advice on how to get rid of migraines.

A couple of years ago I started to get migraines more and more often and the attacks got worse and worse. I connected the attacks with my intake of gluten. I decided to stop eating gluten and my migraine attacks disappeared. What a relief! Gluten is a big trigger for many people.

How to pick the best yogurt!


I remember when I moved to the U.S. I had a hard time finding a good yogurt. All the yogurts in my grocery store were packed with sugar and carrageenan. Did you know that yogurt could contain as much sugar as cookies or sodas?

If you can tolerate dairy products like yogurt, here are some criteria to think about:

  • You don’t want to have artificial hormones (rBGH) in the yogurt so buy organic or if it says “No rBGH.”
  • Always choose the whole milk version
  • No added sugar, artificial sweeteners, honey, or syrups.
  • No carrageenan

You may be asking yourself, which brands are the best? Check out this ranked list of yogurt brands. If you have difficulty finding good brands, you can always ask your store if they can stock the brand you would like to have.

  • If you want you can flavor the yogurt with pure vanilla powder or cinnamon.
  • Add berries like blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries if you can tolerate them (not if you have diabetes or high blood pressure).
  • Top your yogurt with a mix of nuts and seeds like almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and coconut flakes. Buy them whole and chop them yourself if you want, to avoid mold spores. Make sure you keep them in the refrigerator in an airtight glass container.

Our 5 1/2 year old is no longer falling asleep unexpectedly during the day. She is in better spirits, has no more sudden mucus-like bowel movements or diarrhea, has no more rashes on bottom or backs of arms and is overall soooo much better!!

It makes me sad to hear about children with health problems; many of them are so young and already struggling with health issues. Read some of the quotes below for answers to why many of our children, and many of us, should not eat grains. The Virgin Diet


I’m very skeptic to the word “diet,” especially books with the word. But, recently I was very surprised and impressed when I listened to J.J. Virgin, the author of The Virgin Diet.

The Virgin Diet is an elimination diet. For three weeks you will take away 100% of the seven below:

  • Eggs
  • Soy
  • Corn
  • Peanuts
  • Sugar/sweeteners
  • Dairy
  • Gluten

No snacking is allowed. Often the food you crave the most is the worst for you. Don’t forget to drink a lot of filtered water.
How are you feeling after three weeks without the above? Hopefully much better. Slowly introduce the above foods again. I would not introduce sugar/artificial sweeteners, gluten, corn, soy and peanuts again though. After every meal you should feel energized.

It’s fairly easy to do and it’s inexpensive; a great way to find what is causing you issues.

Should you be eating dairy?

I have said it many times before; should you be eating dairy?

To eat dairy or not is a tricky question. Personally I love Greek yogurt (plain, organic, 10% fat) and cheese, in small amounts, but I know for sure that many people should not eat dairy. Here is a short video from Dr. Mark Hyman about dairy, to be or not to be.
