My years with Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi)

You have probably guessed that it is Lyme disease (Borrelia burgdorferi), and co-infections I have, and wrote about in the previous post.

Lyme is spread primarily through the bite of a tic, and dears, mice, birds, and other small animals are hosts for the tics. Some researchers believe that some biting insects such as mosquitoes, fleas, biting flies, and lice may also transmit Lyme. And, that it can also be sexually transmitted, transmitted by a blood transfusion, and transmitted from an infected mother to the baby. (more…)

GAPS Diet – food is medicine

Last week I wrote about the biggest buzz at the moment, GAPS Diet and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome and is a way to heal the digestive system.

MS and other autoimmune diseases, allergies, schizophrenia, autism, ADHD, depression, diabetes type 1, arthritis, cancer, heart problems, epilepsy, skin conditions etc.; all can be treated, according to Dr. Campbell-McBride, just by following the GAPS diet for a limited time.

This is a must-see video by Dr. Campbell-McBride where she explains the system in detail. Watch it and I don´t think you will regret it!

Maria has MS (multiple sclerosis)

This is an amazing story from a Swedish magazine.

For five years Maria spent all her time at home, sleeping mostly, because she had MS (multiple sclerosis). The side effects of the medicines were so bad so she had to stop taking them and then the healthcare couldn´t help her any longer. She was a swimmer when she was young so she has eaten loads of carbohydrates during her life. But, when her fiancé and his brother switched over to the Paleo diet and got rid of IBS and asthma, she started to look into it a bit more. By coincidence she heard about Terry Wahls and her remarkable recovery from MS. Maria felt inspired and took away gluten, dairy, sugar, and artificial colorings from her food. She started to eat a lot of good vegetables, meat, fish, berries, nuts, butter and sometimes cheese. She also supplemented with vitamin D and omega-3. Now, after one year with “clean” food, she has so much more energy and she only has to rest once a day. She still needs crutches but she´s walking about 1 mil (6 miles) each day and her goal is to walk 178 mil (1106 miles) in one year. The dizziness is still there though. She is getting stronger and stronger each day and now she has energy to play with her children. She has also started with intermittent fasting so she´s only eating lunch and dinner, to give her body more time to heal. Now she has a life and can play with her children, and even go on vacation.

Using a similar diet her children have eliminated bad migraine attacks and eczema.

Imagine how much medicine we would have eaten if we had not changed our diet.
