Does sugar cause cancer?

In a previous post I wrote about cancer treatment at the University Hospital of Wurzburg, Germany.

They wrote:

Cancer cells have a giant appetite for sugar but have a problem burning fat to meet its energy demands.

However, they don’t agree with the above video when it comes to fruit:

Fruit, although delicious and full of vitamins, must be avoided because it usually contains too much glucose and fructose. Berries, on the other hand, are especially valuable because they are not only low carb, but might also have cancer-inhibiting properties. Eat small amounts of fruit and berries and keep track of the carbohydrates (max. 6 grams per portion)

My guess is that in the future we will hear about many more studies that show the carbohydrates-cancer connection. Here is a new study from Australia.

news Author and science writer Gary Taubes came across this article from The New York Times in 1897. So, as early as 1897 some people were able to make a connection between sugar and cancer.

GAPS Diet – food is medicine

Last week I wrote about the biggest buzz at the moment, GAPS Diet and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome and is a way to heal the digestive system.

MS and other autoimmune diseases, allergies, schizophrenia, autism, ADHD, depression, diabetes type 1, arthritis, cancer, heart problems, epilepsy, skin conditions etc.; all can be treated, according to Dr. Campbell-McBride, just by following the GAPS diet for a limited time.

This is a must-see video by Dr. Campbell-McBride where she explains the system in detail. Watch it and I don´t think you will regret it!

So, what exactly do you eat on the GAPS diet? Stay tuned for more information tomorrow.

W.H.O. is worried – new recommendations

W.H.O., The World Health Organization, is worried for our health. They now recommend that sugar should be less than ten percent of total energy intake per day to prevent non-communicable diseases. It further suggests that a reduction to below five percent of total energy intake (around 25 grams or 6 teaspoons) per day would have additional benefits.
